A Weekend of Light, Chaos & Holding On to What Matters

Midsommar has always been one of my favorite times of the year. There’s something about these long, light-filled days that feels timeless — like the sun is gifting us a little more space to breathe, slow down, and reconnect. Even when the weather doesn’t fully cooperate (because let’s be honest, summer doesn’t always mean warm), there’s a softness in the air that only this time of year brings.

Usually, we spend Midsommar in Sweden — making flower crowns, eating outdoors, and soaking up the traditions I’ve grown to love so much. But this year was different. With a move underway, boxes everywhere, and renovation dust still settling, traveling just wasn’t possible.

And yet, somehow, we still found a way to celebrate.

In between packing up our home and making last-minute fixes in the new house, we managed to carve out a small, quiet moment for ourselves. A BBQ in the backyard, a few wildflowers turned into crowns, and just us — trying to be present in the middle of all the movement.

It wasn’t perfect. It wasn’t Pinterest-worthy. But it was real. And it meant something.

This Midsommar felt like a gentle reminder that we don’t need to go far or do much to create meaningful memories. Sometimes it’s enough just to make space — even in chaos — for the things that matter.

What makes this all even more emotional is that we’re heading into our very last week in the apartment we’ve called home for nine years. Nine years. It’s hard to believe. There’s excitement, of course, but also a deep nostalgia. This space has held so much life, and saying goodbye feels heavier than I expected.

I filmed a small part of our Midsommar day for my vlog — just a tiny glimpse of calm in a very full week. If you’d like to watch, I’d love to share it with you.

Wherever you are, I hope your summer weekend brought you warmth, connection, and maybe a little bit of magic too.
